When my family and I visit the beach, the only thing I want to eat is seafood. During our recent visit to Clearwater Beach, we discovered some great restaurants – perfect for families.
It never hurts to ask the folks that live in the community – they will typically point out spots you may not have noticed or thought to try. Here are a few of our favorites –
Frenchy’s Rockaway Grille
7 Rockaway St. Clearwater Beach, @FrenchysOnline When the hostess says “would you like to dine outside on the deck?” – just say YES! Frenchy’s Rockaway Grille is steps away from the sand, making it the hot spot for a lunch break from the sand and when sunset rolls around – it’s the place to be for drinks with a view. The views are fantastic – as is the food. Frenchy’s is just a short walk down the beach from Pier 60.
Known for their She-Crab soup and grouper sandwiches – why not just order both! Must try: The Super Grouper Sandwich is a hefty sandwich available cajun, fried, grilled or with Jerk seasoning and topped with provolone cheese.
Crabby Bill’s
37 Causeway Blvd. Clearwater Beach, 727-210-1313, @CrabbyBills Located across the street from Pier 60, watch the sunset from Crabby Bill’s outdoor patio or grab a booth inside too. While there are a few locations throughout the region, this one is within walking distance of numerous hotels and of course the beach too.
They get bonus points for sending me a text message when my table was ready. (Yay technology!) Must try: Crabbyfeller Oysters topped with bacon and crab/cheese/spinach dip and then baked to a melty goodness.
Cooter’s Restaurant
423 Poinsettia Avenue, Clearwater Beach, 727-462-2668 @CootersRest You’ll find the family owned Cooter’s Restaurant tucked a few blocks off of the main road – and that’s a good thing. We arrived hungry on a busy July afternoon and were seated rather quickly for dinner with plenty of food options featuring steak, burgers and of course seafood.
You know it’s going to be a good place when you see a roll of paper towels on your table! Must try: Mondays and Tuesdays it’s ‘All You Can Eat Crablegs’ – come hungry!
