Located just minutes from Walt Disney World and a few miles from Universal Orlando and Sea World, the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort, Bonnet Creek opened in October 2011 and it is the perfect spot for a family vacation.
And while the theme parks are tempting, there are plenty of activities on the property – you might not want to leave the resort.
Helpful Amenities
Upon checking in, we received a resort activity guide and the Disney parks (free) transportation schedule, we made a stop at the full-service Starbucks in the lobby, we were off to our room.
Our family room was huge – complete with bunk beds and a living area/couch. With the bunk beds in their own private nook, along with a separate television, it was like a mini-suite.
And like most moms, I was relieved to see our room had a compact refrigerator too. After letting the girls check out their new beds, we were off to explore the resort.
Family Activities
The zero-entry pool looked inviting and there was even a relaxing firepit for nighttime. Maggie was especially excited to see the separate pirate themed pool! The resort’s activity guide offered a fun variety of events for the entire family. Shaving cream art, snowball wars, cookie decorating and Wednesday afternoons is “Bubble Time”!
And the fun doesn’t stop there – each night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m, the Wyndham Grand Kids Club is open for children ages 5-12 years old for an additional fee. A great way for parents to have a night out.
Good Eats
There were also three restaurants at the resort – one to fit every mood (or should I say your child’s mood!) The Back Bay Pool Bar & Grill offers a great menu overlooking the resort’s lagoon and pool area.
Tesoro Cove serves three meals a day in a casual setting – complete with a kids breakfast buffet. I especially liked that it was at kid’s eye level, so they can see their options and let the parents make their plate.
The Deep Blu Seafood Grille serves a fantastic seafood and sushi menu nightly. And while we didn’t have a chance to dine at the grille, I loved that the restaurant featured an open kitchen – a great way to see the chefs in action.
We ended our nights at the resort by watching the EPCOT fireworks from our room. My girls are scared of fireworks, but from the comforts of our room – we all had a perfect view.
Orlando is our family getaway spot and I can definitely see us returning to this resort. And next time….I’m going to schedule myself a trip to their Blue Harmony spa.
