The Riverside Arts Market, in Jacksonville, Florida’s historic Riverside/Avondale neighborhood, is my family’s favorite place to spend Saturdays. Shopping, eating and relaxing — the perfect way to spend the day.
Where is the Riverside Arts Market
Each Saturday from March to December, the Riverside Arts Market is held ‘under the bridge’ on Riverside Avenue alongside the St. Johns River.
The bridge that provides shade and cover for the market just happens to be Interstate 95 and offers visitors a place to shop – and locals say it’s typically ten degrees cooler ‘under the bridge’ thanks to the breeze off the riverfront.
What to Expect
During our recent visit, the Arts Market was celebrating Bike Day – with the craft area setup for kids to make their own nameplates for bikes and there was an early morning bike parade too. They have a variety of themed and specialty days planned throughout the year.
Whether you are shopping for groceries, presents or just a souvenir of your travels – RAM (as the locals call it) prides itself in having handmade and local goods.
And if you are hungry, grab some lunch from one of the many local vendors and have a picnic along the riverfront. For fresh fruits and veggies, stop by Farmer’s Row at the market for locally grown foods.
Dog lover? Bring your leashed pup along for the day. The arts market is dog-friendly and there’s always plenty of pups in the area. Water dishes and sometimes even dog snacks are throughout the market.
Take a Look

Insider Tip: When you’re done shopping, be sure to visit the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens located next door to the Riverside Arts Market. On select Saturdays of the month, they even offer free admission to the museum, so be sure to check their online calendar.
