How to Trade Minifigures at LEGOLAND Florida Resort

In addition to the fun rides and experiencing the massive LEGO displays at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, Maggie’s favorite activity was trading Minifigures with Model Citizens (employees) throughout the parks and hotels.

It is an affordable way to experience the park, interact with others and get some new Minifigs for your collection too. Maggie loved checking out all the Minifigs around the park that were up for trade too.

Here’s a look at our experience trading Minifigures at LEGOLAND Florida Resort

Bring or Purchase a Complete LEGO® Minifigure

Whether you bring a Minifigure from your home collection or purchase a Blind Bag while you are at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, you’ll be ready to trade. Just be sure to bring a completed Minifig – bottoms, top, head and hair.

Maggie had some duplicate Minifigures at home, so she decided to bring a few from her personal collection to trade… and she was excited! (PRO TIP: Carry your Minifigures in a Ziploc bag or something easily accessible from your backpack as you make your way through the park.)

Approach a Model Citizen with a Minifigure and Ask to Trade

Every Model Citizen (aka LEGOLAND Florida employee) wears a nametag with a Minifigure on it. From our experience, they were always happy to trade and start a conversation with Maggie. She was shy at first, but by the end of our visits, she was excited about interacting with others.

We were also excited to learn that there are Trade Boards inside every gift shop. These Trade Boards are filled with a variety of Minifigures available for trading. It was fun to check out the different boards at the Park and also the hotels. You never know what you might find!

Trade, Trade and Trade Again!

I think what Maggie loved the most about trading Minifigures during our visit was that each trade board was different – and filled with some pretty great Minifigs. She loved stopped to see the boards and was always on the lookout for Model Citizens.

While there is a limit of two trades at each trade board, she ended up trading quite a few times during our visit and came home with many ‘new to her’ Minifigures. It ended up being the perfect souvenir and it was a special way for her to remember our trip.

Visit LEGOLAND Florida’s Minifigure Market

For an added bonus of fun for trading minifigures, be sure to by the Minifigure Market located in Fun Town inside the park, next to the Grand Carousel. You’ll find all things Minifigure inside the market and you can even build your own set of Minifigs to take home with you. (For an additional fee, of course!)

From Christmas ornaments to alarm clocks to Minifigure storage containers and more – this is *the* place to shop for Minifig merchandise.

Be sure to ask the Model Citizen on-site when the Mayor of Fun Town will be around the shop. Times vary, but it is worthy of a visit. The Mayor’s jacket is decorated with Minifigures available for trade and the stories are pretty fun to hear too. Kicking myself for not snapping a picture with the Mayor!

Maggie is already planning out which Minifigures she’d like to trade on our next visit to LEGOLAND Florida Resort. For a kiddo that is shy at times, I love seeing her excitement for LEGO bricks.

This was a fun activity to enhance our visit and seeing the joy in exploring the Minifigs across the park was a great adventure for each of us.
