The final touches are being set and things are beginning to wrap up in anticipation for the opening of Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 30, 2018. My family and I are big fans of the movies and we can’t wait to experience this new area!
The new 11-acre land will feature Woody’s Lunch Box and fun rides like the Slinky Dog Dash, a family roller coaster, the Alien Swirling Saucers and the existing Toy Story Mania – with a new entrance now facing Toy Story Land.
While researching this new area, I ran across some fun facts on the Walt Disney World site and figured it was worthy of a share here too. And it sounds like everyone will ‘shrink down to toy size’ upon entering this new land.
Check out these six fun facts about Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios –
More than 400 toy blocks fill Andy’s backyard.
From the renderings posted online, there are building blocks throughout this new land especially with many around Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster area.
In Toy Story Land, Andy’s footprint is about 25 feet long or the equivalent of a size 240 shoe.
Remember how I mentioned that everyone will ‘shrink to toy size’ in this new land? I sure hope Andy doesn’t step on us while we are there!
It would take a Green Army Man roughly 12 steps just to travel the length of one of Andy’s shoeprints.
Those Green Army Man guys sure move around quickly. I am hoping they continue to be out and about for photo opportunities. My girls love interacting with them on previous trips.
You would need a backpack the size of a school bus to carry the Buzz and Woody figures that tower over Toy Story Land.
Ah, I am so excited to see these new figurines in the land. I bet the details are going to be incredible and lifelike too.
The weight of the Slinky Dog Dash track and support columns weighs almost as much as 125,000 gallons of milk.
My girls aren’t too big on roller coasters (yet!), but Slinky Dog Dash is said to be ‘family-friendly’ so I’m hoping we can talk them into giving it a try. I’m hoping it is similar to Goofy’s Barnstormer at Magic Kingdom Park.
Riders must be 38 inches or taller to ride Slinky Dog Dash.
Together Rex and the Jenga Tower are as tall as 7½ Green Army Men standing on top of one another.
On our last visit, we could spy a few building blocks peeking out above the construction walls. While we didn’t see Rex or Jessie, the blocks are very tall — and just made us even more excited for this new land.
It is sure to be an exciting summer at Walt Disney World with the addition of Toy Story Land. And in addition to all of this fun, Jessie, Woody and Buzz will all be hosting meet-and-greets in the new area, so don’t forget your autograph book and camera!
