Summertime is winding down at our house. The girls are headed back to school next week and we are squeezing in some last minute fun before we jump back into a routine.
So, I instantly said yes when the Hyatt Regency Orlando invited my husband and I to experience a ‘no kids’ weekend getaway. (Special shout-out to my mother-in-law for keeping the girls.) We were ready for a weekend of relaxation and quiet time — and that’s exactly what happened!
Here’s a look at our weekend away and what you can expect from staying at Hyatt Regency Orlando –
Choose From One of Three Pools
Hyatt Regency’s Grotto Pool is ‘the’ place to be for fun. From the speedy waterslide to the waterfalls and live music on the weekends – the poolside Coconuts was hopping with food and drinks during our stay. No need to leave your pool chair – servers roam the area taking food and drink orders!
If you’ve got kids, be sure to stop by the towel hut for a schedule of activities and enjoy the day. There’s also a great splash park area for little ones – enclosed with a safety gate and sand play area too.
If you’re looking for something a little more quiet, check out the Terrace Pool in Tower 1. There’s even lanes designated for those looking to swim laps. Pro Tip: The resort is big, if you want to be closer to the Grotto pool, ask for a room in the Regency Tower.
Eat Well at Hyatt Regency Orlando
From the B-Line Diner, a 24-hour casual spot with great desserts and to-go options, the poolside eats at Coconuts, an elegant night out at Fiorenzo Italian Steakhouse and seafood selections at Urban Tide – just to name a few – the dining options are plentiful at Hyatt Regency Orlando.
On our first night at the property, we dined at Urban Tide featuring coastal cuisine and we may have overindulged in eating too much. The menu is packed full of great foods – for both seafood lovers and land-lovers.
From grouper cheeks (so good!), rock shrimp and grouper ceviche, seared scallops served on a salt block and cioppino – we did our best at tackling the delicious menu. Pro Tip: Don’t skip over the cocktail menu — if you love pickles, try the Pickle Martini!
The Ultimate Relaxation? The Spa!
We were treated to a morning at the Spa at Hyatt Regency Orlando and it proved to be the ultimate relaxation. The spa features a full-service salon, a massive gym and much to my surprise — an indoor and outdoor whirlpool areas, just for use of the spa guests. Pro Tip: Bring your bathing suit, so you can enjoy the whirlpool after your spa treatment.
We chose to relax in the outdoor whirlpools – the lagoon area was peaceful and allowed us to enjoy some extra relaxation. The great spa staff even offered to place a room service order for us to enjoy poolside. Nice touch! Pro Tip: Spa guests have full access to the area for the day, no matter the time of your spa treatment.
Explore The Neighborhood
The Hyatt Regency Orlando is located on International Drive across the street from the Orange County Convention Center (definitely stay here if you have an event there!). The property is within walking distance of Pointe Orlando with tons of great shopping, restaurants, nightlife like B.B. King’s Blues Club — and even a movie theatre, including IMAX!
And if you need a theme park ‘fix’ — I could see the Sea World roller coasters in the distance from our room. It is a quick drive to both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort making it a central spot to stay for any of the parks and even nighttime fireworks if your room is on a high floor.
