With all the (well-deserved) hype about the release of the new Minions movie this summer, it got me thinking about the fun I’ve had with the Minions during our visits to Universal Orlando Resort.
From staying in a Minion-themed room to having breakfast with the Minions and even becoming a Minion – check out this ultimate guide of everything Minions at Universal Orlando Resort.
Eat with Minions
One of the best character meals we’ve ever had was at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando. On Sunday mornings, families can enjoy a full breakfast buffet at the resort’s Islands Dining Room — featuring Gru, the Minions and the characters from Hop too.
We joined in on a Minions dance party and Gru even stole my seat while I was gone. It was a morning of great food and memories that we’ll cherish forever.
Pro Tip: If you’re interested in having breakfast with the Minions inside the park, check out Universal’s Superstar Character Breakfast.
Sleep with the Minions
We haven’t done this (yet!), but staying in a Despicable Me Kids’ Suite at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel is high on my ‘must do’ list. The two-bedroom suites include two, twin-sized custom-designed missile beds with Minion-inspired bedding for the kids and an adjoining room for the adults with a typical king-sized bed. (Not gonna lie, I want to sleep in a missile bed like Agnes and Margo.)
Surrounded with Minion decor, the suite does not have a door that opens to the hallway in the kids area – making it secure and safe for the little ones. As a parent, that’s a big plus for me.
Pro Tip: When you stay at the Portofino, families receive Early Park Admission and Universal’s Express Pass included with your stay.

Look Like a Minion
There is no shortage of Despicable Me and Minions merchandise when you visit Universal Orlando Resort. Whether you shop inside the parks, Universal CityWalk or an on-site resort – there are so many great items.
I’m partial to the Minion goggles and the Gru shirt, but my Maggie fell in love with the Minion bathing suit.
Pro Tip: If you don’t have plans to visit soon, but still want to shop – check out the official Universal Orlando online store. You can even order your own fluffy unicorn.
Become a Minion
The ultimate Minion experience is Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, a 3-D ride at Universal Studios Florida. Grab your 3D glasses and prepare to be transformed into a Minion. (I wish they looked like Minion goggles instead of glasses.)
The pre-show and queue are just as much fun as the ride. I love walking through the queue – it looks like Gru’s living room. It is such a fun ride that keeps me laughing the entire time. The seats do move a bit during the ride, so if you’re little one is unsure, ask to be seated in the stationary seats at the front of the theater.
Pro Tip: When you exit the ride, (through the gift shop, of course) – be on the lookout for the Minions. It’s a great place for a quick photo and you can join the dance party too.
There are so many fun ways to experience the Minions. My family and I are excited to see the new movie and we always look forward to our visit with them at the parks too.
From dance parties, to the ride and all the great merchandise — it’s good to be a Minion!
What’s your favorite Minion experience?
