As soon as I saw Stormtroopers patrolling the entrance to LEGOLAND Florida Resort, I knew LEGO STAR WARS Days was going to be a great day of fun.
We attended the first day of the festivities this past weekend and loved celebrating Maggie and my husband’s movies together as a family.
From the new STAR WARS additions in Miniland U.S.A. to the unique (and rare!) photo opportunities available around the park, it was a day filled with excitement and plenty of Stormtrooper sightings too. LEGO STAR WARS Days continues May 12-13 and May 19-20, 2018.
Here’s a look at our favorite photo opportunities at LEGO STAR WARS Days
LEGO Captain Phasma
New to this year’s LEGO STAR WARS Days festivities is LEGO Captain Phasma. Meet and greets took place numerous times throughout the day and the girls were excited that there were lightsabers available to use as props in the picture.
LEGO Darth Vader
LEGO Darth Vader meets in the same building as Captain Phasma, near the Kids Power Tower and Pirates Cove. They rotate times, so it is easy to meet them both without having to make two trips. In between meeting times, we enjoyed a snack break by Lake Eloise. (Check out the LEGO Darth Vader picture above – so fun!)
STAR WARS Additions in MINILAND
The newest addition to MINILAND is the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Model Display includes six exciting scenes set on the planet of Jakku, from Star Wars: The Force Awakens which include: Kylo Ren’s capture of Poe; Rey’s rescue of BB-8; Poe and Finn’s escape from the Star Destroyer Finalizer; The wreck of Finn and Poe’s TIE Fighter; Rey, Finn and BB-8’s escape from Niima Outpost; and the escape from the Starship Graveyard.
STAR WARS Group Photos
There were so many rare photo opportunities during our day at LEGO STAR WARS Days – I’ve got a lot of new options for this year’s Christmas card.
Upon entering the park, I was excited to see numerous backdrops set up around the park for photo opportunities and a huge group of STAR WARS characters available for pictures. You can’t see these many characters together in one place, so these photos were extra special.
With STAR WARS characters roaming throughout the park, I may have squealed just a bit when I spotted a Stormtrooper riding The Grand Carousel in FunTown. It was so unexpected and fun — and he looked like he was enjoying the ride!
So, when you visit the park for LEGO STAR WARS Days, keep your eyes open – you never know what you might see!
We found the LEGO BB-8 droid just outside of the LEGO Studio Store in FunTown. It was a fun surprise that his little head was on a swivel so he could look around. Maggie has a miniature LEGO BB-8 droid at home, so it was fun to compare the two pieces and see the similarities and differences.
I’ll admit that I don’t know everything about STAR WARS, but I do know that I love Rey because she’s a great, strong role model for my girls. Maggie really likes her character a lot, so having a LEGO display of Rey was extra special. We found two of her LEGO Build in the park – one near FunTown and another within MINILAND U.S.A. – don’t miss it!
You’ll find the enormous Chewbacca LEGO display on the backside of MINILAND, right near The Force Awakens displays. It was a bit intimidating to see how huge he is up close… and the incredible details of LEGO bricks that it took to build him too. It was the perfect photo opportunity. I’m secretly hoping he sticks around after LEGO STAR WARS Days are complete.
LEGO Yoda was quite the showpiece display at LEGOLAND Florida. Found right across from the Market Restaurant, as you enter the park — don’t miss getting a picture with this one! While we were there, they had an official photographer set up taking photos that were available for purchase. Of course, you can also take your own photos too, but having the photographer there is just an added bonus!
