Last week, my family and I made our way to LEGOLAND Florida Resort in Winter Haven for the grand opening festivities of the new LEGO NINJAGO World. It was a morning of celebration, tons of confetti and plenty of smiles, especially from my LEGO obsessed daughter Maggie.
This new theme park land features quite a few hands-on, outdoor activities where little ones can sharpen their ninja skills – all in preparation for the ultimate showdown on LEGO NINJAGO The Ride.
Test Your Ninja Skills
Before you experience the new ride, kids can prepare their ninja skills (and most of all – have fun!) with the hands-on activities found throughout the new World — and of course plenty of LEGOs to play with too.
My girls loved being active and twirling at Kai’s Spinners, Cole’s Rock Climb features right-to-left climbing wall testing endurance and strength. (It is a challenge for little ones, but still low to the ground.) Jay’s Lightning Drill brought us a lot of laughs as you ‘beat the clock’ to practice reflexes pressing light-up targets.
Take to time to explore this new land and you’ll discover some great LEGO displays and photo opportunities. Also be on the lookout for meet and greets throughout the day with siblings ninja Kai and Nya – you can practice ninja moves with them too!
And as you make your way further into this world, you’ll be ready for the fun at LEGO NINJAGO The Ride.
A Look at LEGO NINJAGO The Ride
The new LEGO NINJAGO ride is truly something never seen before in the theme park world – and we had a blast! Put together wit 3D computer animation and 4D special effects like heat, fog and strobe lighting- the ride is a fun, sensory experience that lets family challenge each other.
We used our ninja skills to throw animated fireballs and beat the bad guys. I stuck with the ‘Chops of Fury’ move and came in third place. Funny enough – Molly had the high score for our family on our first ride. She was so proud!
With 3D glasses and motion sensors built into the lap bar of the ride, each rider receives points throughout the game. As you exit the ride, you’ll find in-ride photos available for purchase as well as high scores listed for the day.
It is a fun, family competition — and I can see this being a ride families go on numerous times throughout the day.
More To See and Do at LEGO NINJAGO World
Don’t miss visiting Wu’s Warehouse – filled with tons of LEGO NINJAGO building sets, costumes, books and more. Of course, as you exit the ride, you’ll pass right through the shop. They’ve got all the ninja gear you need and I was especially excited to see they have LEGO NINJAGO books for kids too.
You’ll find the new LEGO NINJAGO World inside the park adjacent to the Coastersaurus and the Boating School. Take advantage of the fun and challenge your family members to see who can achieve the highest score.
