This past weekend was an exciting time for cruise fans – the new Carnival Vista set sail from the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy and welcomed its first guests yesterday for a sailing throughout the Mediterranean.
The 3,954-passenger ship has some ‘new to cruising’ features including an onboard brewery with three beers brewed on the ship at the RedFrog Pub, the first IMAX theater at sea, a suspended cycling experience called SkyRide and the new Family Harbor area with special accommodations for families including a family concierge.
I’m Going to Meet Carnival Vista in Europe
I’m thrilled to tell you that in just a few weeks, I’m headed to Europe to take part in a 10-day sailing on the Carnival Vista to experience all of the fantastic features of this new ship and explore ‘new to me’ places in Europe (insert ecstatic squealing here).
My husband and I are sailing on the May 14th voyage leaving from Barcelona and making our way to Marseilles in France, Pisa, Rome, Naples, Crete, Rhodes and Athens.
We’ve got excursions booked to tour Marseilles, we’ll see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, we’ll take an 11-hour guided tour of Rome – including the Vatican and I’m especially excited to see the Parthenon in Athens. (Have any tips? Share in the comments below!)
While we’ve been to Europe quite a few times, this area of the world is completely new to us and we are looking forward to exploring and soaking in the sights.
What to Expect on the Carnival Vista
In addition to the exciting ports, I’m excited to explore the new additions to the Vista – including the expanded Havana Bar with great eats, music and drinks with a Cuban flair (including my favorite cheese danishes), catch a movie in the first IMAX Theater at sea, enjoy new casual dining experiences like the Seafood Shack and fingers crossed I can snag an exclusive dining reservation at the Chef’s Table for incredible eats.
And while our girls are staying at home for this trip, (super shout out to my parents and my mother-in-law), I’m going to take great notes on the Camp Ocean and Dr. Seuss Bookville areas for my kiddos. And for research purposes (wink, wink), I’m going to climb aboard the SkyRide, the ropes course and check out the WaterWorks aqua park, including the 455-foot-long Kaleid-o-slide, the longest slide in the fleet.

Ready to Set Sail on the Carnival Vista?
Carnival’s newest, largest and most innovative ship, Carnival Vista is set to operate a series of Mediterranean voyages through October before repositioning to New York for a series of departures in November 2016.
Carnival Vista will launch year-round six- and eight-day Caribbean service from Miami in December 2016.
See you soon, Carnival Vista!
