This past weekend, we hit the road to Central Florida to help kick off the Gaylord Palms Resort SummerFest series featuring Princess Blackheart & the Buccaneer Bash- filled with great activities for families now through August 21, 2016.
Alongside Princess Blackheart and her fellow buccaneers, SummerFest is an exciting way to spend time with your children and make wonderful memories too.
Here’s a look at the fun your family can have this summer at the Gaylord Palms Resort SummerFest –
Make Your Own Pirate Attire
Stop by the Celebration Room in the arcade (near the pool) in the Everglades atrium and make your own pirate gear. For $6.99, choose from a sword or a pirate hat – and pick up an eye patch too. This activity is available Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Search for Pirate Treasures
At your leisure, swing by the lobby and pick up a treasure map to go on a family scavenger hunt. Use the clues on the map to discover hidden treasure boxes located throughout the resort atriums – it is a fun way to explore the resort and have fun too.
Once you’ve completed the hunt, go online to www.GaylordPalmsScavengerHunt.com and complete the form with the scavenger hunt answers and you could win the grand prize!
Pirate Stories and S’Mores
Join Princess Priscilla on the Coquina Lawn to hear tall tales about becoming the very female pirate captain. With songs, stories and fun the evening ends with S’mores under the stars.
The ‘Pirate Stories & Chanties Under the Stars’ is meant for the entire family, this story features Princess Priscilla and Jonny Stranger – along with some great photo opportunities too. Shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with three shows each night. There is an additional fee of $14.99 per person and the fee includes S’mores supplies.
Join the Pirate Invasion Parade
Join the pirate invasion Thursday through Sundays beginning in the lobby at 5 p.m. With pirate songs and the official pirate flag, families can join Princess Priscilla and Jonny Stranger for a walk through the hotel looking for treasures. And don’t forget to wear your pirate gear too!
Poolside Pirate Shenanigans
There’s nothing better than hitting the pool during the summer. With three slides, a massive water play structure, basketball hoops, zero-entry – the family pool at Gaylord Palms is an adventure in itself.
Captain Pat Beeks joins the pool fun at the daily SoBe Splash Party with pool games, dance pARRRRties (see what I did there?) and some great lip sync battles alongside the pool DJ.
Eat with the Pirates
Located inside the Key West Atrium, the MOOR restaurant is a family favorite — and for SummerFest it is home to Princess Priscilla’s Coronation Character Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Enjoy the buffet featuring steak and eggs, shrimp and grits, a fantastic ‘create your own waffles’ bar and a variety of breakfast eats.
My girls loved spending time with Princess Priscilla, Jonny Stranger and searching for fish in the atrium waters and finding treasures with Captain Pat Beeks. We even took the official pirate oath and became true pirates!

We always have a great time when visiting the Gaylord Palms Resort. It was a weekend filled with family adventures and we made some great memories together.
It was a fun way to kick off our summer and I know the girls are going to hold on to their pirate treasures as great mementos of our weekend.
Don’t miss Gaylord Palms SummerFest!
** My family and I were invited guests of the Gaylord Palms Resort. We received accommodations and a resort credit during our stay. Opinions here are 100% my own. **
