I’m a Florida native and I have so many great memories of traveling with my parents to Daytona Beach. From listening to live music at the Daytona Beach Bandshell, located just steps from the ocean and grabbing a pizza along the boardwalk. It is even the first place Molly dipped her toes in the ocean — how’s that for a great memory?!

It has been a few years since I’ve taken my girls to Daytona Beach and since it isn’t too far of a drive, we’ve been doing a lot of research for an upcoming getaway. Weekend getaways are perfect for us, as its an easy drive and we can explore the neighborhoods and beaches of the area. daytona-beach-pier-sign

Fall Fun in Daytona Beach

In my research, I discovered tons of ‘new to me’ festivals in Daytona Beach. From the Greek Festival November 10-13, 2016 – (hello amazing food!!), the Halifax Arts Festival November 5-6, 2016 and the legendary Blues Festival October 7-9, 2016 – the three-day festival features live music and plenty of local food vendors too.

Car lovers – don’t miss the legendary Daytona Turkey Run held every Thanksgiving weekend at Daytona International Speedway. My uncle requires this his ‘must do’ event every year with classic hot rods on display — it is known as the largest classic car show in the United States. Pro Tip: Be sure to check out the amazing tours of the Speedway — it is incredible to see it up close and in person. daytona-beach-pier

And no trip to Daytona Beach is complete without a visit to the Daytona Beach Pier. The fall is a great time to watch the fisherman reel in their daily catches. And when you visit the pier, be sure to turn around and look at the great views of the beach!

For those looking for some adventure, don’t miss the Zoom Air Adventure Park and go ziplining among the trees of  Tuscawilla Park. The Museum of Arts & Sciences features 9,600 square feet of discoveries including a planetarium and a nature preserve.

I was last in Daytona Beach almost one year ago today. Yes, in the fall. It is a great fall destination. Driving on the sand. Heading to NSB (great brewery). Just walking around in contemplation. Great destination.
