Why I Love Carnival’s Seuss at Sea

Did you know that the Cat in the Hat is running for president?! Cool, right?! (He’s got my vote)

Well, during a recent morning visit aboard the Carnival Magic, we celebrated at the Cat in the Hat’s Presidential Headquarters at sea with a pep rally and festive lunch. We cast our ballot for the Cat and his VP running mates Thing 1 and Thing 2. (Spoiler Alert: He won with an unanimous vote.) The girls had a blast — and so did I.

Carnival Cruise Line features Seuss at Sea programs on every sailing – from the Green Eggs & Ham Character Breakfast to the Seuss-A-Palooza storytime and parade and more. Now through election day on November 8, you can cast your vote for the Cat too!

Here’s a look at what to expect on your next Carnival cruise —

Festive Food and Characters

My girls consider The Green Eggs & Ham Character Breakfast to be a ‘must do’ on each cruise.  Held on sea days, Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2 and Sam I Am join the fun for breakfast, songs and great photo opportunities too.

Order dishes like the Green Eggs and Ham, Horton’s Cereal Crusted French Toast, Fox in Socks Steak and Eggs and more — festive and tasty too. Also be sure to try the yogurt partfaits with strawberries — it’s a sweet way to end a fun meal.

There is an additional cost of $5 per person for this festive event and reservations are required. Just stop by the Guest Services desk or call them directly from your stateroom to get your family signed up for a fun breakfast.

Join the Dr. Seuss characters for a pep rally and parade through the ship as you and your family look for the Cat In The Hat. Grab a noisemaker, a sign or just sing along with “Dr. Seuss is on the Loose” — you might get a few looks as you parade through the ship, but you’ll be overwhelmed with lots of smiles too.

It is a fun way to introduce kids to the celebration and explore the ship too. Here’s a look at the Seuss-A-Palooza parade and the grand finale leading into the storytime for families.

Storytime with Cat in the Hat

My girls get a little timid when it comes to volunteers for audience participation, but they are filled with giggles seeing parents and kids join in from the audience to help the Cat in the Hat and friends retell his famous story.

The Seuss-A-Palooza Storytime is held in the main theatre of the ship and is a special event held once during each sailing. It is a great way to take a time out, relax and enjoy the fun with your kids.

Family Memories and Laughter

My girls have cruised since there were just toddlers and making memories with them is the highlight of every trip. In addition to all of the activities around the ship, we especially love participating in the Seuss at Sea events during our trip.

I’ll never forget the laughs we all experienced when Thing 1 and Thing 2 decided to mess up my mom’s hair during the character breakfast. (Note to self – be quicker with the camera.) And we loved seeing Molly help lead the Seuss-A-Palooza parade through the ship.

I’m already looking forward to our next cruise — for more Seuss-themed eats, stories and plenty of laughs with my girls too.

We sailed on carnival triumph in February 2017 and suess at sea was offered. It was fun but not really a game changer. In all the extra activities added up to maybe an extra 4 hours of activities to do on a 5 day cruise. Fun but in my opinion a little over rated. I do agree that the green eggs and ham breakfast is fun and it’s only $5 per person. It reminds me of a character meal at Walt Disney world

Hi Tyler – Thanks for reading. I’m glad to hear you also enjoyed the character breakfast. It is always a big hit with my girls!

Thanks for the review and all the info.
Sounds like a great trip for gram, gramps
And grandkids plus Mom and Dad. Total
Of 8 travelers. Love that the characters are on board!
