During our recent Carnival Fascination sailing to the Bahamas, we scheduled some much-needed beach time in Freeport with the All Inclusive Beach Getaway shore excursion. The beach in October?! Yep. And it was sunny and fantastic.
During the 30-minute drive to the beach, our tour guide told us about the country and ways of life in the Bahamas. From schools to gas prices to why they drive on the opposite side of the road and more – we learned so much!
My girls especially loved that our transportation was an open-aired double-decker bus — great breeze and the ultimate way to see the island.
Once arriving at Bahamas Adventure private beach we were briefed on the amenities, activities and most importantly, what time the buses would be leaving to take us back to the ship! In total, including transportation, the trip was about 4.5 hours – plenty of time for fun.
From plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas, the floating obstacle course out in the water, life jackets and the activity area for kids — these were just a small portion of the amenities available for the day.
Included as part of our all-inclusive package were unlimited drinks from the bar (margaritas, daiquiris, etc.), plus soft drinks and juices for the kids. And if you don’t want to leave your shady umbrella, there are servers out and about taking drink orders – just remember to be kind and tip!
The lunch buffet is also included with this excursion. We enjoyed a great, traditional Bahamian lunch of fried fish, rice, beans, conch fritters (my favorite!), beef ribs, quesadillas, steamed vegetables and more. Even my girls liked it, which is a major bonus!
Save time to do some shopping from the on-site, local vendors!
More Than Just the Beach for Kids
My girls love the beach, but they were pretty excited to discover that our excursion had a great play area for kids too. From arts and crafts, a playground, games, water balloon fights, tug of war and even a kiddie pool – the area was staffed with team members playing with the kids.
It was a great break from the beach and they were right next to the shaded hammocks — perfect for the parents to catch a bit of relaxation while the kids played too.
Things to Know
Bring Cash – There is a local market on-site with vendors – the girls picked out straw purses and even had their names stitched into each of them, they were a great souvenir. Plus, please be sure tip the servers and staff!
Bring Your Own Towel – Carnival Cruise Line provides each guest with a towel in their room. Be sure to bring it with you for this excursion, towels are not available at the beach.
Sunscreen – The property is well-shaded, but it’s the beach – be sure to bring your sunscreen. There’s nothing worse than getting burned while you’re at the beach.
Set of Dry Clothes – If you’d prefer not to travel back to the ship in wet clothes, there are showers and changing areas available. We brought dry clothes to change into and it made our trip back to the ship much more comfortable.
If we have the opportunity to sail to Freeport, Bahamas on another Carnival cruise, I would make it a priority to sign up for this shore excursion. From the all-inclusive food and drinks to the clean beach and the kids activities, this was a perfect match for my family.
