I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said “One day, I’m going to stay there”, when driving on I-4 near the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate. That all changed a few weeks ago when I arrived at the resort and proclaimed – “I’m checking in!”
It was a rainy weekend, but we were able to fit in some pool time and loved exploring the family activities at the resort. Here’s a look at our visit —
Omni Kids Package
This was my first time staying at an Omni property with my kids, I’m usually solo or traveling with my husband. So, I wasn’t sure what to expect as far as ‘perks’ for children — and the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate exceeded my expectations.
The girls loved receiving an Omni Kitchen Kids activity kit at check-in. Filled with a memory card game, activity book, crayons and a cute backpack – it was a fun surprise and they played with it throughout the weekend.
We were all surprised to find cookies and milk greeting us one evening when we returned from dinner too. Sometimes it is the little things that really make a visit and this was a great touch.
As part of the resort’s 110 Days of Summer activities, there were fun happenings for families. Snowcones by the pool were a huge hit (I helped myself to two!), nighttime s’mores, a DJ spinning tunes by the family pool, hula hoop contests and more.
The resort has an adults-only, quiet pool and a separate, huge family pool complete with a splash area for little ones and a big slide too. The biggest excitement from my girls was the lazy river – with complimentary tubes for floating.
Thanks to some pretty massive storms, we spent quite a bit of time exploring the inside of the resort. With the resort activities guide in hand, we discovered some fun activities to enjoy together. Our favorite activity was ‘Make Your Own Pizzas’ with the chefs at Trevi’s.
With an assortment of toppings, we created our pizzas, interacted with the chefs while our pizzas cooked and then enjoyed a great afternoon snack – for free!
With all the rain, I was worried that the Dive-In movie would be cancelled but great news – they moved the fun indoors into a conference room. Blankets, chairs, popcorns and snacks were available and we enjoyed a night out of the rain watching ‘Home’.
I am a sucker for breakfast buffets and Trevi’s at the Omni Orlando had some extra flavor (no pun intended) to their lineup. I may have squealed a bit when I discovered a southern ground grits bar with sausage, cheese, bacon, rock shrimp and numerous sauces for toppings.
In addition to the usual breakfast buffet fare, there was also a honey bar with different types of honey, a made to order omelet station and French toast was made to order from the kitchen too.
We also stopped in for dinner one evening at David’s Club, unsure if it was kid-friendly we were welcomed by a friendly staff excited to see us with kids. Pro Tip: Get the steak nachos – perfect for sharing and the cheese sauce is fantastic.
Close to the Disney Parks
You could easily stay at the resort and never need to venture elsewhere – so many fun activities and things to do. However, if you’re looking to visit Mickey Mouse, it’s only about 15 minutes away.
Take advantage of complimentary transportation to Walt Disney World. Stop by the concierge desk in the lobby for arrangements as 24-hour advance reservations are required. Pro Tip: While we weren’t able to see Disney fireworks from our room, we were able to see them from the windows down the hall from our room! True Disney magic!
