During our recent visit to Asheville, North Carolina, we had the opportunity to stay at the new Hampton Inn & Suites Asheville Biltmore Village. (Special thanks to the Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau for hosting us!)
Minutes from Downtown and adjacent to the main gate of the Biltmore Estate, this new hotel opened in June 2017 and has quite a few great amenities unique to the Hampton Inn & Suites brand of hotels.
Here’s a look at our stay and the things we loved about this new property filled with local character –
Enjoy a Central Location
Located just south of Downtown Asheville, the hotel is about two miles from the heart of the city and adjacent to Interstate 40, but don’t worry, you won’t hear the noise from the highway.
While we didn’t visit The Biltmore House on this visit (next time!), the hotel is just two blocks from the main gate of the property. The Biltmore Village is also nearby, where you’ll find plenty of local restaurants and shopping. PRO TIP: If you’d rather someone else do the driving, their adjacent sister property, DoubleTree Biltmore is an official stop on the Asheville Trolley Tour – hop on and off throughout town.
Unique Additions – Craft Beer and an Indoor Pool
This Hampton Inn & Suites property was unique in that it had some pretty cool amenities that I’ve never seen in other Hampton locations. The indoor pool was a huge welcome to my girls — I hadn’t thought about it until our stay, but my Florida girls had never seen an indoor pool. And they LOVED it!
It was a welcome sight after our full morning of zip lining at the Asheville Adventure Center – even when an afternoon summer storm rolled in! Just outside the pool was a large patio area and a firepit — sure to be a hit during the fall months.
While my girls loved the indoor pool, my husband and I were thrilled to experience a local taste of Asheville right in the lobby of the hotel at the on-site tap room and bar featuring local, Asheville beer! (For you non-beer fans, they had wine offerings available too.)
I had Catabawa Brewing Company’s Stay Awhile Lemon Blonde Ale – light and refreshing after a day exploring the city. My pint glass was only $5 and I was excited to learn that the pint glass was mine to keep (they switched it out for a clean glass when I finished – awesome souvenir) and one dollar from my purchase went to the local food bank. A total win/win for all. PRO TIP: Wanna learn more about where you are staying? Always talk to the bartender – they know the scoop!
More Things I Loved
- Plenty of USB plugs and outlets throughout the room
- The sausage/egg/cheese mini-bagels at the free breakfast buffet
- The local goods for sale in the lobby – local popcorn, hot sauce, beer – souvenirs!
- Free, area maps available at the front desk
- Our room had a microwave, mini refrigerator and a coffee maker
- The staff had great recommendations for local dining hot spots
- A large fitness room available 24 hours a day
Only open a few weeks, this new property felt modern and spacious. I found myself wanting to relax in the lobby – it was inviting and relaxing. (Not to mention the tap room!)
The complimentary breakfast buffet was filled with great eats, including waffles and there were different main items every morning – always a nice surprise. And there was plenty of fresh fruit, perfect to throw in my bag for an afternoon snack. And over at the front desk, they had pre-packaged bags for ‘breakfast on the go’.
