Traveling with two kids, my husband – the more adventurous eater and myself, the sometimes picky eater, means that choosing a place to eat can sometimes be a chore. And even more so at Disney Springs – there are just too many great restaurants to choose from in the area.
During our recent visit, when we couldn’t agree on where to go for lunch – we decided to think outside the box. We split up and grabbed to-go food from three of our favorite spots and met back up to eat together.
Here’s a look at our non-traditional, quick eats lunch –
I’m a big sushi fan and my husband raves about Morimoto Asia’s signature baby ribs – so the outdoor Morimoto Asia Street Food counter service area adjacent to the restaurant is a perfect match for us.
There you’ll find snack-sized portions of the ribs, bao tacos and even sushi with California rolls and shrimp tempura rolls on the menu. There’s plenty of outdoor seating and be sure to check the specials menu too – it changes daily.
The variety of food is fantastic and there’s a good selection of Japanese beer too – always important! Pro Tip: They do take Annual Passholder discounts there – hooray for saving money!
Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Kitchen
The welcoming staff at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Kitchen greets families with a friendly ‘Welcome Home!’ upon arrival. With indoor and outdoor seating available, the restaurant overlooks the Springs in a casual setting — and they have a fantastic ‘Grab n’ Go’ menu featuring a fried chicken sandwich, fried catfish sandwich, chopped pork sandwich and more!
Visit the Shine Bar to order directly from this Grab n’ Go menu. They’ll box it all up for you, throw in some plastic silverware and napkins and you’re good to go.
The chicken sandwich is truly the star from this to-go menu and served with a side of Homecomin’s hot sauce aoili. (I’d recommend trying it first, before putting it on the sandwich – it packs quite a punch!) We also ordered a Box of Fries and it was a HUGE serving, definitely good for sharing.
Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza
With more than 40 toppings to choose from, Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza is a hot spot with the locals and tourists with 11” artisanal pizzas available for as low as $10. Pizzas are flash fire’d in 180 seconds – so don’t go too far after they had you a pager – your food will be ready soon!
With gluten-free crust and vegan cheese available, other tempting toppings include Italian meatballs, grilled chicken, banana peppers, smoked ham and more.
One Blaze pizza is plenty enough for my girls to share and they usually munch on the Homecomin’ box of fries too. Blaze Pizza also has a variety of specialty teas – my husband raves about them and an added bonus – free refills!
Blaze has a fantastic outdoor seating area overlooking the Springs and that’s where we usually all meet back up with our non-traditional lunch.
How do you typically handle choosing a lunch spot at Disney Springs? While it make take us a bit to round up each of our favorite dishes from surrounding restaurants – we love that we can each enjoy exactly what we want for lunch.
Each of these restaurants is accessible with quick service and made for munching on the go. Plus, it could be considered a money-saver too – as we aren’t ordering appetizers, entrees and desserts. Just enough for one person and a bite or two to share with the rest of the family. Win/win for all!
