It is the most wonderful time of year — The 22nd annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is here! Great eats, festive drinks and special foodie events, the festival takes place August 31 – November 13, 2017.
If you are going to this year’s festival (and you should!), don’t miss my helpful tips of how to make the most of your day.
Here’s a look at some pretty incredible facts (and numbers) surrounding this year’s big event –
This year’s festival is 75 days long. When the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival began in 1996, it was only 30 days!
The festival has become a mainstay for locals and visitors alike. You’ll find the largest crowds on the weekends – especially Saturday late afternoon and evening (crazy busy).
My advice — get a head start as soon as the booths open at 11 a.m. Grab a passport and go with a plan, knowing which booths are on your ‘must eat’ list. Even better, if you can – go on a weekday. You’ll have a much better experience.
This year’s festival features 35 global marketplaces, 39 new marketplace dishes and 65 new cocktails, beers, wines and ciders.
With that big fact, it goes without saying that you need to come hungry to this year’s festival. I recommend going in with a plan of ‘must eats’ and go to those booths first. Or even better, plan to visit multiple days!
These loaded Greek ‘nachos’ are back on the menu in Greece this year with Pita chips, meatless sausage crumbles, and vegan Tzatziki – delicious!
There are 197 Guest chefs and Disney chefs present culinary demonstrations and cooking for festival events.
To check out the entire lineup for the festival, hop over to the official Festival Center page. Reservations are highly encouraged for special events, so take a look at the schedule and plan ahead.
A few years ago, my husband and I attended one of the culinary demonstrations – it was a great break in the air conditioning and we sampled some great food too. And if you are an annual passholder, be sure to ask if there are discounts available when registered for an event.
You can sing-a-long to one of the 225 Eat to the Beat concerts scheduled for this year’s festival.
This year’s festival includes eleven ‘new’ acts joining the festival. Some of the highlights include Kenny G., 10,000 Maniacs, Mark Wills, Postmodern Jukebox, Lauren Alaina and more!
If you want to see the shows, get there early as seating usually fills up quickly. Good news – there are numerous showtimes each night.
100,000-plus desserts are expected to be served throughout this year’s festival.
Save room for dessert! Each country has its own signature dessert, but also be sure to visit The Chocolate Studio.
This year’s treats include a Liquid Nitro Chocolate-Almond Truffle with Warm Whiskey-Caramel and a Sweet Dark Chocolate Raspberry Torte with Whipped Cream and Raspberry Dust. Yes, please!
