Christmas at Gaylord Palms: Experience the Fun and Make Memories

by Carrie McLaren with no comments

The holidays are all about making memories together as a family. And one of our newest family traditions is kicking off the season celebrating Christmas at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee. From the festive Cirque Dreams Unwrapped show to meeting Santa and exploring the ICE sculptures and more — there’s fun for all.

Here’s a peek at our experience and a look at the fun you can have with your family at the Gaylord Palms this holiday season –

ICE Featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas

At nine degrees, ICE featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas is quite a sight to see. Made completely of ice, this winter wonderland tells the holiday story of the Peanuts gang with everything being hand carved from 2 million pounds of ice.

While you should definitely come prepared for the chilly temperatures, also know that you’ll be provided a cozy blue parka to wear while touring the ICE displays. I’d highly suggest you bring closed-toe shoes and gloves.

Don’t miss the Frostbite Factory to see a carving artist hard at work creating a new masterpiece. The amount of skill and attention to detail is incredible. Not to mention that the working conditions include being in nine-degree temperatures. Brrrr. The final room in ICE is a breathtaking Nativity scene carved in solid, white ice.

See the Cirque Dreams Unwrapped

While my girls truly love ICE, the true highlight for them is seeing the Cirque Dreams Unwrapped show performed nightly on the Emerald Bay Plaza Stage in the St. Augustine Atrium.

Acrobats, jugglers, dancing, trapeze artists and more — this year’s show features a rotating variety of performers so each show is different. I may have screamed out loud a few times during the show — it is incredible.

Seating for this 25-minute show is available on a first come, first serve basis. New this year – VIP seating! Evening shows are $17.99 (adults and seniors) and $12.99 (children).

Matinee showtimes are $14.99 (adults and seniors) | $10.99 (children). Show times are as follows – 1:00pm and 6:30pm Sunday – Thursday; 6:30pm and 8:00pm on Fridays and 1pm, 6:30pm and 8pm each Saturday.

Stay in your seats after the Cirque Dreams Unwrapped show for the new Grand Snowfall show, where the entire atrium turns into a snowglobe. Lights and lasers dance along with holidays songs bringing the atrium to life — complete with snow!

Have Breakfast with Charlie Brown & Friends

I’m a huge fan of breakfast buffets — made to order omelets, bacon, biscuits and gravy, yes please! On select dates, families can enjoy breakfast with Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy at Villa de Flora, located in the resort’s main atrium.

And we discovered a fun surprise during breakfast — they have Snoopy, Charlie Brown and dog house waffles on the buffet. I may have squealed a little bit when I saw them, so cute! And of course, Maggie instantly asked why we didn’t have Snoopy waffles at home.

Visit the Alpine Village

Located adjacent to ICE, you’ll find the festive Alpine Village filled with a holiday shopping area, snow tubing, great photo opportunities, the Build-A-Bear Workshop, a meet and greet with Santa Claus and new this year – Mrs. Claus’ Christmas Traditions and Story Time Sing-a-long.

We spent some time decorating cookies and of course, we had to meet Santa too! My girls were both anxious to go snow tubing too. Definitely lots of laughs and fun there too.

Fees vary for each the village activities, but you are welcome to walk around and enjoy the village at no cost. Be sure to bring your camera — there are some great photo opportunities too. Also be on the lookout for the Krispy Kreme donut stand — perfect with a cup of hot chocolate.
