I’m a huge fan of Carnival LIVE, the Carnival Cruise Line series where big-name performers bring their acts to the intimate stages onboard a cruise ship. Massive fun in a great setting — all while you are on vacation.
Today, Carnival Cruise Line announced the 2016 Fall lineup — and this one is full of laughs and great music. Here’s a look –
Country heartthrob (yeah, I said it) brings his live concert to the Carnival Fantasy and Carnival Splendor while docked in Cozumel on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20, respectively. Hunt – who was recently nominated for a Grammy Award and has been honored with an American Music Award, a CMT Award and an Academy of Country Music Award – is the first country artist to chart all singles from his debut album in the Billboard Hot 100.
Comedian Jim Gaffigan brings his unique brand of humor to the stage with performances in Nassau aboard Carnival Valor Sept. 6 and Carnival Fantasy Sept. 7. Gaffigan is a New York Times best-selling author, top touring performer, and multi-platinum-selling father of five. He recently wrapped the first season of his critically acclaimed television show, The Jim Gaffigan Show, which, like his brand of humor, revolves around one man’s struggle to balance fatherhood, stand-up comedy and an insatiable appetite.
Famous for his starring role in the Rush Hour movie series, Tucker will perform aboard Carnival Freedom in Grand Cayman Oct. 25 and another on Carnival Dream in Montego Bay Oct. 26. Tucker was a staple on the Def Comedy Jam series before breaking into movies and continuing his popular stand-up comedy career. Most recently, he starred in a self-titled comedy show, Chris Tucker – Live, on Netflix.
What is Carnival LIVE
On Carnival LIVE sailings, the ship has an extended stay in one port for the night of the concert. On our last trip, we were docked in St. Thomas until midnight and Journey played that night in the ship’s theater. (They were only on the ship for the concert, not the entire voyage.)
When booking a cruise, you have the opportunity to purchase concert tickets (similar to booking an excursion) along with the option to upgrade to VIP tickets, which includes meet and greets and a seat in one of the first few rows.
Depending on the artist, tickets range from $30 to $75 for general admission with VIP tickets available for $100 to $250, offering seating in the first few rows, an artist meet and greet, a souvenir photo with the artist and a commemorative concert pass.
